Although having a college degree makes it easier to have a high-paying career, it is not necessary. So for those who do not want to spend four years in a classroom, here is a list of high-paying jobs with no degree required.
1. Court Reporter – Court reporters enjoy great job security because there will always be a demand for this position. People who enjoy the drama of a courtroom and are interested in legal practices would thrive in this career. The average yearly salary is $47,275.
2. Network Administrator – A network administrator, according to Wikipedia,  is “a modern profession responsible for the maintenance of computer hardware and software that comprises a computer network.” So, if you know the ins and outs of computers, this could be a great job for you. The average yearly salary is $49,801.
3. Police Officer – If you enjoy working with people and making sure everyone follows the rules, this could be a great career option for you. Basic training usually takes about four months, and the average yearly salary is $47,485.
4. Correctional Officer – This job is not for the faint of heart. Working as a correctional officer in a jail can be stressful and dangerous, but it is ideal for those people who thrive off maintaining order and following rules. Many local and state prisons do not require any training past a high school degree, so it is a fast track towards earning an average yearly salary of $42,795.
5. Clinical Lab Tech – Science buffs and those interested in the medical field would love this career. Clinical lab techs examine tissue and body fluids under a microscope and test them for diseases. You do have to have at least a two-year training course from a technical college or hospital to enter into this field, but that is much shorter than most medical degrees, which can take over eight years. The average annual salary for clinical lab techs is $47,801.
So, if going to college and earning a degree just isn’t the cards for you right now, don’t give up. There are plenty of great career options out there; you just have to know where to look.
