Aaron Rodgers' Education Background

Aaron Rodgers is an American quarterback who plays football for the NFL’s Green Bay Packers. He has played for the Packers since 2005, when he was selected in the first round of the NFL draft. On February 6, 2011, Rodgers and the Packers will face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV. EDUinReview will now take a look at the education background of this gifted athlete.
Rodgers was born in Chico, California, on December 2, 1983. He grew up in Chico and attended Pleasant Valley High School. During high school, he played football and started as quarterback for two years. He had several recording-making games while in high school, including one game when he scored six touchdowns for his team. He graduated from high school in 2002.

Rodgers attended Butte Community College. He did not receive any scholarship offers from Division I football teams; however, he did receive an offer from Illinois to walk-on. During his freshman year at Butte, he led the team to a 10-1 season and a NorCal Conference championship. The team was named the number two team in the nation. Also during his freshman year, University of California head coach Jeff Tedford began recruiting Rodgers and another teammate. Rodgers was able to transfer schools after his freshman year due to his 3.6 GPA and his SAT score, which was 1300.
Rodgers transferred to California after his freshman year, leaving him with three years of eligibility to continue playing football. He became the starting quarterback in the fifth game of the 2003 season. The team won the Insight Bowl that year against Virginia Tech. During his junior year, the team had a 10-1 season. Rodgers also set a school record for passing completion by completing 85.3 percent of his passes in a game against University of Southern California. The Bears headed to the Holiday Bowl in 2004, where they lost to Texas Tech.
Rodgers decided to forgo his senior year of college in favor of enter the 2005 NFL Draft. He was drafted by the Packers during the first round of the draft and was 24th overall.
