Anne Hathaway's Education Background

Anne Hathaway is an American actress who first stole our hearts as Mia Thermopolis in “The Princess Diaries” in 2001. Since then, she has starred in many other films, including “Ella Enchanted,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Rachel Getting Married,” and “Alice in Wonderland.” Hathaway just announced plans to play Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, in Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” which will star Christian Bale as Batman. EDUinReview will now take a look at the education background of this wonderful young actress.
Hathaway was born on November 12, 1982 in Brooklyn, New York. She is the middle child of Gerald and Kathleen Hathaway and has two brothers. Her mother is the person who first sparked Anne’s interest in acting because she, herself, is an actress.

Hathaway attended Brooklyn Heights Montessori School for preschool, which gave her a head-start for her early academic career: she started first grade while still technically a kindergartner. In high school, Hathaway was very active in the school drama department and acted in many of the school’s plays. She graduated from Millburn High School with a Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Award nomination for her performance in one of these plays.
After high school, Hathaway headed to Vassar College to study English and women’s studies. After a few semesters, she transferred to NYU‘s Gallatin School of Individualized Study.
“College is such a unique time because you’re learning a little bit how to be an adult,” Hathaway said. “You’re learning how to take care of yourself without parental influence, and you exposed to so many great minds. I feel like I didn’t even know how to think until I got to college.”
In addition to acting, Hathaway is involved with several charities, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Step Up Women’s Network, and The Human Rights Campaign.
Hathaway will have at least three films hitting the theaters within the next two years, including “Rio,” “One Day,” and, of course, “The Dark Knight Rises.” Her most recent film is “Love and Other Drugs,” for which she was nominated to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. Natalie Portman won the award.
