Chelsea Clinton's Education Background

Chelsea Clinton is the well-known only daughter of former President Bill Clinton and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Chelsea is currently appearing in many popular magazines due to her upcoming wedding to Marc Mezvinsky, an investment banker. Chelsea has been thought of as an intelligent person since her childhood, and we at EDUinReview would like to take a look back at Chelsea Clinton’s educational history.
Chelsea was born on February 27, 1980 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Chelsea attended public school for her elementary and junior high education. While in elementary school, Chelsea skipped third grade because she was too academically advanced for that grade. She also attended Horace Mann Junior High School, a magnet school in Little Rock that is famous for its arts and sciences curriculum.
When Chelsea was 12-years old, her father was elected president of the United States, and the family moved to the White House. Chelsea attended Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., which is also where Sasha and Malia Obama are currently attending school. Chelsea continued to succeed academically at Sidwell and became a National Merit Scholarship finalist when she was 17. Chelsea also participated in the Model United Nations, a program that allows students to address issues that are currently being addressed by the United Nations.
Although she is obviously very intelligent, Chelsea did not solely focus on academics: she also pursued an interest in dance while she was in high school. Starting in 1993, Chelsea took ballet classes at the Washington School of Ballet. She also played two roles – the Favorite Aunt and the Sugar Plum Fairy – in Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, performed by the Washington Ballet in 1996.
Chelsea earned her undergraduate degree at Stanford University. She originally majored in chemistry with an emphasis in medicine. However, after two years, she switched to history. She graduated from Stanford in 2001.
Chelsea also attended the University of Oxford, where she earned a master’s degree in international relations.
After finishing her education, Chelsea went to work for a consulting firm called McKinsey & Company in 2003. She worked for McKinsey & Company until 2006, when she joined Avenue Capital Group, a hedge fund that favored the Democratic party.
In November 2009, Chelsea announced her engagement to Mezvinsky, who also comes from a politically active family. The two plan to be wed on July 31, 2010 in Rhinebeck, New York. Some of the famous people expected to attend include Oprah Winfrey and Steven Spielberg. President Obama was not invited.
