Jack Black's Education Background

Jack Black is an American actor, comedian, and musician who is possibly best known for being part of the band Tenacious Dand his slap stick comedies. His most recent movie to hit the big screens was Kung Fu Panda 2 and he has several other movies that are scheduled to be released in 2011. EDUinReview will now take a look at this funny man’s education background.
Black as born on August 28, 1969, in Santa Monica, California. His parents are Judith and Thomas Black, both of whom are satellite engineers. When Black was 10-years old, his parents divorced and Black moved to Culver City, California with his father. Black attended Poseidon School, a private school designed for students who were struggling in the traditional school system. He also attended Crossroads School, where he discover his love of acting and excelled in the school’s drama department. Black attended UCLA for two years but then dropped out in order to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

Black entered the acting industry by appearing on several prime time television shows, such as Northern Exposure and The X-Files. He appeared in many films between 1993 and 2000, but it wasn’t until High Fidelity was released in 2000 that he really gained fame. He was nominated for six awards for his role as Barry, and won the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Supporting Actor.
The next year he starred in Saving Silverman and Shallow Hal; he was nominated for a Teen Choice Award forhis role in Shallow Hal. In 2003, Black starred in his next highly-acclaimed film, School of Rock. This role made Black a household name and launched him into celebrity status. Some of his other famous movies include King Kong, The Holiday, Nacho Libre, Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny, and Tropic Thunder.
In addition to acting, Black is also the lead singer in the band Tenacious D. The band has released two albums and has worked for many charitable organizations, such as the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.
On a personal note, Black married Tanya Haden on March 14, 2006. The couple have two children, Sammy and Thomas.
