Julia Roberts' Education Background

Julia Roberts was born on October 28, 1967 in Atlanta, Georgia. When Julia was four-years old, her parents divorced. The family moved to Smyrna, Georgia, where Julia attended elementary school, middle school, and high school.
Julia was a member of the band during her high school years at Campbell High School and played the clarinet. She dreamed of being a veterinarian, a degree she pursued at Georgia State University. However, she did not graduate. Instead, when her older brother and sister moved to New York City, Julia decided to join them and pursue a career in acting.
Julia’s first movie roll was in “Blood Red,” but she only said two words during the film. Her first claim to fame came in 1988 when she played one of the main characters in “Mystic Pizza.” She became even more popular when the movie “Steel Magnolias” came out in 1989.
Julia became an international superstar in 1990 when she co-starred with Richard Gere in “Pretty Woman.” Some of her other popular movies filmed in the 1990s include “My Best Friend’s Wedding,” “Stepmom,” “Runaway Bride,” and “Notting Hill.” One of her proudest moments as an actress must have been in 2000, when “Erin Brockovich” earned her the title of Best Actress at the Academy Awards.
Some of her more current movies include “Ocean’s Eleven,” “America’s Sweethearts,” “Mona Lisa Smile,” and “Valentine’s Day.” Her newest movie, “Eat Pray Love,” will be released on August 13, 2010 in the U.S. and Canada.
