Library of Congress Releases Educational App for iPhone
Learning about the Library of Congress just got little more high-tech. Now, students can download the free “Library Of Congress – Virtual Tour” app to their iPhone or iPod Touch and discover what the Library of Congress is all about. Now students who can’t travel to Washington, D.C. can take a virtual walk around the largest library under one roof. Librarians and curators guide the way with informative and interesting facts.
The library is organized into seven sections: Main Reading Room, The Great Hall, Exploring the Early Americas, Creating the United States, The Bible Collection, Thomas Jefferson’s Library and Menerva. Each section features an audio tour and related links to the Library of Congress website. The tours highlight the architectural details of the building, the functions of the different areas and the history of its art. Extensive and beautiful photo galleries give users an up-close look at historical documents and works of art. This app is fun window into American History.
