Matt Damon's Education Background

Matthew Paige Damon was born on October 8, 1970 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is the son of stockbroker Kent Telfer Damon and professor of early childhood education Nancy Carlsson-Paige. Damon has one brother named Kyle.
Damon attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. There, he was a disciplined student and began acting in school productions. Damon attended school and grew up near future actor, Ben Affleck. The two worked together in the high school productions.
Damon went on to attend Harvard University from 1988 to 1992. He studied English but dropped out in 1992 to pursue his acting career in Los Angeles.
Damon’s first film role was in 1988. He was eighteen and had a single line in the romantic comedy, Mystic Pizza. In 1996, Damon starred in Courage Under Fire. This role gained him critical notice.
During the 1990’s Damon and Affleck wrote a screenplay. That script eventually became the film Good Will Hunting in 1997. Both actors starred in the film and it earned nine Academy Awards nominations. Damon and Affleck received Oscars for Best Original Screenplay. The two actors were paid $500,000 while the film grossed $225 million at the worldwide box office. The vast popularity and success of Good Will Hunting established Damon’s celebrity and helped further his highly successful career. Over the years Damon has starred in commercially successful films such as Saving Private Ryan (1998), the Ocean’s trilogy and the Bourne series.
Today Damon is one of the top forty highest grossing actors of all time. In 2007, Damon received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was named “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine.
