Rima FakihSome say that beauty pageant contestants aren’t exactly the smartest girls in the world, but Rima Fakih, the 2010 Miss USA, easily proves them wrong.
Fakih immigrated to Queens, New York in 1993 with her family when she was seven years old from Sour, Lebanon. She attended St. John’s Preparatory School and graduated in 2003, when she was only 17 years old.
After she graduated, Fakih attended the University of Michigan. While in college, Fakih earned her bachelor of arts in economics, and also earned a minor in business administration.
Fakih was very active on campus and in her community while she was in college. She started a mentoring program in Dearborn, Michigan for children in need of caring, adult role models in their lives. Fakih was also involved in another charitable organization, the Pink Fund, which is a financial assistance organization dedicated to help breast cancer patients. If that weren’t enough, Fakih was also the president of Students in Free Enterprise.
And she doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. After Fakih finishes her reign as Miss USA, she plans to attend law school, although she has not declared which school she will attend. She hopes to also contribute to the Service Nation campaign, a group that encourages volunteer service in America, so others can contribute their time to help Americans, like Fakih has done for so many years. Rima Fakih truly exemplifies what it means to be Miss USA.
