Prince William of Wales' Education Background

Prince William Arthur Philip Louis of Wales was born on June 21, 1982. He is second in line to the British throne, behind his father, Prince Charles. Prince William was born in London, England and is the eldest child of Prince Charles and Princess Diana and has a younger brother, Harry. EDUinReview will now take a look at the education background of a future king of England.
Prince William received the best education possible; he is royalty, after all. He first attended Jane Mynor’s nursery school, then the pre-prep Wetherby School in London. He studied geography, biology, and history of art at Eton College. He was the house captain at Eton for his football team and also played water polo.

A very interesting aspect of Prince William’s education career is that the paparazzi agreed not to intrude in his life during this time. The Royal Family agreed to release regular updates of his life in exchange for his privacy:
“Prince William is not an institution; nor a soap star; nor a football hero. He is a child,” said John Wakeham, the chairman of the Press Complaints Commission. “In the next few years, perhaps the most important and sometimes painful part of his life, he will grow up and become a man.”
After graduating from Eton, Prince William took a year off from his education. He participated in British Army training exercises in Belize, and then spent 10 weeks teaching children in Tortel, Chile.
In 2001, Prince William was back in the UK attending the University of St. Andrews. He earned a Scottish Master of Arts degree with honors in geography. He continued to play water polo while at St. Andrews and represented his school at the Celtic Nations tournament in 2004.
Prince William proposed to his long-term girlfriend, Kate Middleton, in October 2010. The two met at University. However, the couple managed to keep their engagement a secret until November 16, when they announced their engagement in the UK.
“It was the logical step for both of us,” Prince William said. “We’d been talking about marriage for a while so it wasn’t a massive surprise.”
