Simon Cowell's Education Background
Simon Phillip Cowell was born on October 7, 1959 in Lambeth, London, England. He was raised in Elstree, Hertfordshire. He is the son of Eric Phillip Cowell and Julie Brett Cowell. His father was an estate agent developer and music industry executive. His mother was a former ballet dancer and socialite. Cowell has one brother and three half-brothers.
Cowell attended the independent school Dover College. He left early before attending the sixth form. After leaving school Cowell took several small jobs. He worked as a runner on Stanley Kubrick’s film The Shinning. Cowell did not last long at these menial jobs due to his inability to get along with co-workers and authorities. Eventually Cowell ended up in the mail room of his father’s company, EMI Music Publishing. Cowell’s father was and executive at EMI.
From the mail room, Cowell climbed the latter of success. He was promoted to music publishing at EMI and eventually left exploring several other ventures in the industry. Cowell partnered with several others along his ride to success. His first major success was becoming a partner and building the label, Fanfare, into a high successful ‘indie’ pop label.
Cowell’s career soared. As he created many other labels and branched beyond musical talents. He signed many television deals as well. Some of his television hits include World Wrestling Entertainment, Teletubbies and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. Eventually, Cowell was cast as a judge on the American show, American Idol in 2002. This is the job that began his major popularity. He was quickly noted for his harsh judging comments and remarks. Cowell remained on American Idol until 2010. He took part in several other television shows during his time with American Idol. Cowell’s career is one of international status and he continues to work in multiple countries.
He is currently engaged to make up artist Mezhgan Hussainy.
